Welcome to the Westwind
Farm Chesapeake Bay Retriever web site.
I got my first Chesapeake
in 1978. He got me hooked on the breed. I established
a small animal veterinary practice in 1985, the year
after I married. When I finished having children myself,
I began raising Chesapeakes.
Chesapeakes are excellent
working dogs, competitive in field trials, hunt tests,
hunting and obedience. We have found the Chesapeake to
be an affectionate, intelligent breed that is eager to
please. Our Chesapeakes live in our home, are people-oriented
and good with children. While my primary interest is
field work, our dogs conform to the breed standard and
are successful in the show ring. All our dogs have hip
and eye clearances (OFA/Pen.Hip, and CERF).
Dual
Ch and AFC Westwind's Rudy of Nordais is the foundation
sire of my bloodlines. Rudy easily finished his show
champion at 22 months of age with 4 and 5 point majors
at the Springfield shows, then finished with a BOB at
the Boston shows. He is also very successful in the field.
He made the National Derby list with 14 derby points
in 1995. In 1999 he completed his Amateur Field Champion.
In 2001 he completed his Field Champion title to become
the 14th Dual Champion in the breed's history.
